The Mighty Muddy Onion

The Mighty Muddy Onion
Mud-spattered cyclists descend Gould Hill Road in Montpelier near the end of the annual Muddy Onion dirt-road bike tour put on by Onion River Outdoors.

If you’re going to have a big dirt-road bike tour called the Muddy Onion, it might as well be muddy. And it was mighty muddy for the annual Onion River Outdoors event, which followed central Vermont gravel for loops of 58, 40, or 20 miles on a rainy Saturday, April 26. It was colorful, but I went with black and white. Congratulations to all those who rode. I don’t think they’re going to forget this one. You can tell, by the amount of mud in the face, who had fenders or handlebar bags to stop the barrage.
