CRX to PDX

Wherein my brother, Joe, and I deliver a 1989 Honda CRX from Pennsylvania to my son, Jim, in Portland, Oregon, via Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota and so forth, braving such dangers as a leaking sunroof, bison and road food. Above, the tiny Honda crosses the big Mackinac Bridge to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Click here for a gallery.

I’m still trying to recover from the realization that a 1989 vehicle is now “vintage.” Like the e-Jags of the ’60s, the CRX has a clean, appealing sillohette that is in the class of forever contemporary, and so distinctive from the transformer aesthetic that has distorted automotive design in the decades since.
I understand why you’re ripe for another road trip. Consider that if you design your route on small town two-lane blacktop, you’ll have less competition for charging stations and many more interesting subjects to photograph. If Missouri and Kansas are along your way, I have some worthwhile suggestions. (Note: When I opened this form I got the following warning, which I ignored: “This from is not secure. Autofill has been turned off.”) On the other hand, auto-turnoff of Autofill strikes me as a blessing . . .
