What Post Office?

Montpelier, VT, is known as the only state capital without a McDonald’s. But now it is apparently also the only state capital without a post office. Montpelier’s federal building, including the PO and the federal courthouse, was damaged so severely in the July flood that it hasn’t opened yet and there’s no firm date for reopening. Residents are asking the postal service to do something to install some form of post office in the city. The state’s congressional delegation led a demonstration Monday, January 8, in front of the shut-down PO calling for action. Meanwhile, you want to mail a package or buy some stamps? Go to another town. Click here for the story at montpelierbridge.org.
