December Snow

Snow’s not unusual in December in Vermont, of course, but late November and early December turned out to be snowier than we’ve come to expect in these days of climate uncertainty. It looked good on the landscape, even if it was wet, heavy, mixed with rain, and brought down trees and branches, knocking out power to thousands for a while. It came on three consecutive Sunday-into-Monday cycles. And then was followed by a Sunday-into-Monday rainstorm this week that erased most of the valley snow and threatened a repeat of last summer’s floods. The snow was good while it lasted. Almost impossible to shovel though.
